You can usually spot Whale sharks year-round in the Maldives, with the best spots being Baa Atolls and South Ari between May and November when the sharks gather to feed on a large plankton bloom. Although Whale sharks live in Cenderawasih Bay year-round, their numbers increase dramatically during the plankton bloom between October and April. Whale sharks come to these warm, fertile waters to feed and breed.
